Wolfgang Mattheuer
1927 Reichenbach/Vogtland – 2004 Leipzig
1942–44 Lithografenlehre. Kriegsdienst, 1946–47 Besuch der Kunstgewerbeschule in Leipzig und ab 1947 Studium an der Leipziger Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst. Ab 1956 Dozent ebendort, 1965 Berufung zum Professor. Mit seinen Kollegen Bernhard Heisig und Werner Tübke trat er für eine Richtungsänderung weg von der Lehre des Sozialistischen Realismus ein und begründete die sogenannte Leipziger Schule. Ab 1974 arbeitete er freischaffend.

Slight dejected lower right conor with a small tear (2,5cm). Tidy tear (0,5cm) to the right edge. Minimal traces of crinkles to upper conors.
